Project Information
Submechnophobia is the culmination of my senior project, designed as a vertical slice to showcase both gameplay and visuals for marketing purposes, with the goal of releasing a short demo on platforms like itch.io and Steam. The project aimed to strike a balance between scope and ambition, with the director envisioning an AA-quality experience as a proof of concept. As the lead developer and designer, my role was to focus the director’s broad vision and transform it into actionable gameplay loops supported by clear programming plans.
This was our most ambitious project to date, featuring nearly 13 distinct gameplay systems, a complete overhaul of Unreal Engine's lighting system, and up to an hour of gameplay content. With the collaboration of talented VFX artists, level designers, and composers, the project took roughly four months to complete, with our team working 10-15 hours a week to bring the vision to life.
